Historic Sites to get Upgrades in Zambia Says HH
President Hakainde Hichilema says he will ensure permanent structures are put up at historical and ceremonial places such as the Isandulula where the Chabuka Ceremony is held in Mansa Luapula Province.
Speaking when he graced the Chabuka Baushi traditional ceremony of the Ushi People in Mansa District, President HICHILEMA said such sites must be given more significance.
He called on Ushi Chiefs to ensure such sites are granted title deeds to avoid land wrangles on traditional and historical places.
President Hichilema said the ceremony is not for the Ushi people alone but for many ethnic groups across the country.
He thanked the Ushi people for returning and maintaining the heritage.
Meanwhile, President Hichilema said the provinces' mines have great potential that needs to be actualised.
He said he wants Zambians to mine legally, safely and commercially and that the government will support them.
The Head of State said the Government has given over 400 licenses to Zambians and encouraged them to use them independently or partner with others to avoid accidents in the mines.
Meanwhile Chabuka organizing committee chairperson Prince SHAPI KASONGO said the presence of the President symbolizes the importance of the traditional ceremony.
He said traditional leaders will work with the Government to improve the lives of the people.
