58,000 School Desks Procured over the Last Two Years

In the last two years, 58,000 school desks have been procured through the Constituency Development Fund.

This figure was announced by the Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Lewis Mwape, at the opening of a girl’s dormitory constructed by Plan International at Kaulu Secondary School in Petauke District.

This procurement is an example of the government’s vision for the education sector materialising. President Hichilema spoke of the importance of making education equal and more accessible for young people in Zambia during his visit to the UK.

He said, “education is the greatest equaliser, and the greatest investment we can make.”

The headteacher for the Kaulu Secondary School, David Banda, appealed to supporters of the school to consider building a dormitory for boys who attend the school.
