Government Enhances Vocational Skills Training for Youth
The Government is intensifying efforts to prioritise vocational skills training, according to Jito Kayumba, Special Assistant to the President for Project Implementation and Monitoring.
After touring the Maamba Collieries Ltd Training Institute in Sinazongwe on 14 July, Kayumba stated: “We are focusing on equipping our youth with practical skills that meet the demands of the current job market.” This approach aims to address high unemployment rates by providing young people with the skills needed for various industries, thereby enhancing their employability and contributing to economic growth.
Kayumba further highlighted the government's commitment to upgrading vocational training centres across the country. “The vocational training centres are being upgraded to ensure they offer high-quality education and training,” he explained. This upgrade is expected to improve the standard of vocational education and ensure that graduates are well-prepared for the workforce.
The government's proactive measures in enhancing vocational education underscore its dedication to creating a skilled and competitive workforce in Zambia.
