HH inaugurates state-of-the-art hospital in Mambwe
President Hakainde Hichilema has officially commissioned the new Mambwe District Hospital, a modern 80-bed medical facility set to transform healthcare delivery in the region. The hospital, equipped with cutting-edge medical technology, marks a significant milestone in the government's efforts to improve access to quality healthcare services.
During the commissioning ceremony, President Hichilema emphasised the importance of staffing, directing the Ministry of Health to expedite administrative processes to ensure the hospital receives its full complement of personnel.
The president assured attendees his government is committed to providing the hospital with trained professionals and essential medicines.
Acting Minister of Health Elias Mubanga was also present at the event. He encouraged hospital staff to uphold high standards of professionalism in serving the community.
The project, partly funded by the British government, showcases international cooperation in Zambia's healthcare sector. Acting British High Commissioner Berni Smith, representing the UK at the ceremony, reaffirmed the country's dedication to supporting Zambia's ongoing efforts to enhance its healthcare infrastructure.
The local traditional leader, Chief Jumbe of the Kunda people, expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Hichilema. He highlighted how the new hospital would significantly reduce the need for residents to travel long distances to Chipata for medical attention.
The Mambwe District Hospital boasts an impressive array of services, including modern surgical facilities, a dedicated maternity wing, physiotherapy services, CT scanning capabilities, radiology department, and various other advanced medical services.
