Lion Loose in Livingstone
A lion is suspected to be on the loose in the Livingstone neighbourhood of Dambwa North Extension, with residents reporting seeing pawprints around the area in the past three days.
“My young sister called just to tell us there is a lion on the loose so we should watch out,” Livingstone resident Lumano Natala told ZNBC.
“So we went to sleep and early in the morning our maid came to tell us that she heard this stamping noise and suspected it must have been a lion. So as we looked around the yard for sure traced the footmarks. They are bigger and they look heavier than the dog marks “, she added.
Ms Natala said that some of the local children had decided not to go to School on Tuesday because of the risk from the animal.
“I feel that these dangerous animals like lions a regulation must be put in place so that they are traceable just to make sure that people are safe and they can be easily located to the places where they live, where they are supposed to be,” said her husband, Stebbins Natala.
The Department of National Parks and Wildlife has been contacted but is yet to comment on the situation.
“I think Zawa must come in quickly, they should react,” said David Musangu, another local resident.
