Kitwe Zampost Strike Continues

The sit-in protest by unionised workers at Zambia Postal Services (Zampost) in Kitwe has continued with workers demanding to be addressed by government officials.

A check at Post Office Kitwe Town Centre revealed that the offices remained closed while unionised workers who reported for work were spotted in their respective vehicles within Matuka Avenue Car Park.

The workers are demanding their five months salary arrears as well as payment of all allowances in form of education and other deductions amounting to K 2,500 per employee.

Workers have stuck to their guns despite an assurance from Minister of Transport and Communications Brian Mushimba who indicated that workers would be paid soon.

The work stoppage has affected other offices that are housed within the post office building being Western Union, Nkana Water and Sewerage Company, Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) among other.
