GBM Attacked Ahead of By-election
UPND Vice-President Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) has alleged that his entourage came under attack from PF cadres in Shiwang’andu at the weekend. Reports suggest the cadres were armed with guns, machetes and axes, giving chase in a car.
With local ward by-elections taking place today the incident has been linked to campaigns in the area. This is not the first time UPND campaign teams have come under attack in Shiwang’andu, however, with a particularly notorious incident taking place during the run up to the 2015 elections in which alleged PF cadres were caught on camera attacking a UPND helicopter landing and its passengers including former First Lady Dr. Maureen Mwanawasa and UPND National Chairperson Mutale Nalumango.
As with the previous incidents in the area GBM has alleged the involvement of Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo in the incident.
