President Lungu Attends SADC Troika In Angola
The Southern African Development Community’s (SADC) Double Troika Summit is taking place in Angola today. The Summit will bring together the leaders of the member states to discuss various political, security and environmental issues affecting the region, including the preparations for upcoming elections in both Zimbabwe and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Developments in Lesotho and Madagascar are also understood to be on the agenda. Madagascar this weekend saw violent clashes between police and protestors at public demonstrations against proposed electoral laws that may affect the eligibility of one of the proposed candidates for polls due next year.
Recently appointed President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa now serves as the chairperson of the body, while President of Namibia Hage Geingob is the deputy chair.
