Minister for Gender Victoria Kalima Has Died Suddenly

Minister for Gender and Kasenegwa MP Victoria Kalima has suddenly died. She was admitted to Maina Soko Military Hospital last night and passed away shortly after, leaving her friends and family devastated.

She first came to parliament in 2011 with the MMD, later on in her career she was a big supporter of the the PF MMD alliance ahead of 2016’s general elections, later defecting to the Patriotic Front.

In 2017 she became an activist against gender inequality and child marriages. The same year she also proposed a revised version of Marriage Bill which will ban any marriages between a man and a woman until both are at least 21 years of age.

Details for her funeral and burial are yet to be communicated.
