PF Using KCM As Cash Cow – HH

Opposition politician Hakainde Hichilema has accused the ruling PF of using Konkola Copper Mines as a cash cow for the benefit of party cadres. 

The UPND leader made his comments during a national address on issues affecting the mining sector on Wednesday. 

Mr Hichilema criticised government’s handling of the matter and its disregard for the advice of stakeholders on the subject. 

He described the PF’s promises to miners as political gymnastics and warned that they could not be trusted. 

The UPND leader called on government to pay out redundancy packages in full, rather than in instalments over several months, which he claims is causing unjustified anxiety among miners. He noted that there were outstanding concerns that amounts due from past changes of ownership were still yet to be paid.
