Fierce Competition Forces Lubinda To Abandon Kabwata Constituency For Kafue
Justice minister and long-serving member of parliament for Kabwata constituency, Given Lubinda, is reportedly considering abandoning his home seat in favour of candidacy in the less competitive Kafue constituency ahead of elections this August.
Sources within the Patriotic Front say Lubinda has decided to switch to Kafue amidst fierce competition from rival candidates Clement Tembo and Danny Yenga.
Mr Lubinda has represented Kabwata constituency for 20 years, originally standing as a candidate for the United Party for National Development.
The change in constituency so close to a general election may be a sign that the PF is beginning to feel the pressure from opposition parties.
