UPND Will Build A Zambia Which We Will All Be Proud To Call Home – HH

Leader of the United Party for National Development (UPND) Hakainde Hichilema recently discussed, in a Press Briefing, how his party will change Zambia if voted into government later this year.

Mr Hichilema started by apologising for the way in which the PF have run the country over the last 10 years, especially with regard to the violence which has occurred during their time in government.

“We sympathise with all our civil servants countrywide; teachers, nurses, doctors, our men and women in uniform, and other class of civil servants in various government institutions, for the systematic, deliberate, and sustained threats, intimidation and violence against you.”

Mr Hichilema continued by saying “The suffering which you are going through under the PF regime is of great concern to us. We are with you and we share your pain.”

Following this acknowledgement, he went on to promise removing the dualities between politicians and citizens found within Zambian society today.

“The UPND will build a Zambia which we will all be proud to call home. Today, we have a society of duality; them and us. Our vision is clear, this country belongs to all of us the 18 million-plus citizens and it shouldn’t matter where you were born.”

The reason behind these promises comes from a genuine interest in the lives of Zambia’s citizens Hichilema commented.

“We love the people and that’s why we do what we do because we are here to serve the people and not to serve our interest as is the case now” he said.

Mr Hichilema emphasised the importance of developing a society in which its citizens feel safe to ensure that they can “move freely without fearing that you will be harassed or attacked in markets, bus stations, and at your places of work.”

He finished by stating the importance of working together to achieve this goal to ensure that Zambia is no longer divided by political status or violence.

“Change is coming to Zambia and days of happiness are near” he said.
