PF Justification of Violence is Despicable – Nyirenda

Operation Young Vote executive director Guess Nyirenda has expressed his concern at the violent forewarning demonstrated by the Patriotic Front (PF) recently.

The executive director of the Non-Governmental Organisation warned Zambians in a statement in which he demonstrates his fear over the PF’s defence of these violent actions.

“If the violence that occurred on 1st May 2021 at the Patriotic Front Secretariat Innocent Kalimanshi was manhandled and clobbered and his vehicle smashed right in the face of the party authorities and coupled with the usual and expected response of defending the undefendable by the party deputy secretary general and other leaders is anything to go by ahead of the presidential and general elections in August this year, then the opposition…ordinary citizens and members of the general public must stand steadfast,” he said.

The events were described by Nyirenda as a “vivid early warning” for what is to come from the PF.

Nyirenda reiterated his worry over the PF’s acceptance of the violence.

“The justification by the entire ruling party deputy secretary general of such barbaric conduct of its party cadres is despicable to say the least. It is now becoming crystal clear that PF cannot exist without violence,” he said.

This subsequently leads Nyirenda to believe that “violence is one of, if not the most fundamental pillar of the PF.”

Operation Young Vote has therefore encouraged Zambians to strategize their vote accordingly, to vote against violence on August 12.
