Vote To End Cadre Violence – Miti Advises

Alliance for Community Action Executive Director Laura Miti is encouraging people to vote to end cadre violence and lawlessness in the upcoming August elections.

“Zambia will largely return to normal and many people be able to hustle for a living, if only we get rid of PF thugs and their bullying of private citizens,” Miti writes.

Her comments follow an incident in which cadres caught on camera were seen to be attacking a printing company that is making T-shirts for the UPND campaign. The cadres allegedly burned the shirts claiming that they could not be stopped as they enjoyed the protection of the PF leadership.

It also comes following reports of bloody intraparty violence within the PF last weekend as Chishimba Kambwili returned to the Patriotic Front.

Reflecting on the rise of lawlessness in recent times Miti said of the Police Inspector General, “Kakoma Kanganja has been a wimp of an IG but PF cadre thuggery is not his fault. The reason IG Kanganja and his officers almost salute cadres is because the top cop knows that the ruling party thugs have the tacit, maybe, but full support of President Lungu. They are his strategy to staying in power.”

“To put it plainly, the President needs cadre violence and lawlessness or else he would end it. In other words, if, today, President Lungu said I have had enough of this, those armoured vehicles and war equipment Minister Kampyongo bought for use against ordinary citizens would be brought to bear against cadre lawlessness. Every last cadre would be disarmed and arrested. And that would be the end of that,” she continues.

“President Lungu should not tell us stories about last warnings to Kanganja. We all know that Jay Jay who beat up police officers is campaigning for him in Eastern Province,” she concludes.
