HH Promises To Lower Price Of Fertiliser To K250 If Elected
UPND Alliance presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema has promised to lower the price of a 50kg bag of fertiliser from K800 to K250 if his party forms a government after the August 12 elections.
Laying out his vision for Zambia’s future, HH said lowering the price of fertiliser would lead to increased levels of food production and cheaper prices. He said this would aid his party’s vision to transform Zambia into a regional and international bread basket.
The UPND president laid out his plans to listeners of 3FM radio in Chipata on Wednesday evening. He was joined by the party’s acting spokesperson Thabo Kawana, who explained that HH was looking to run Zambia’s agriculture sector like one of his own businesses, enabling farmers to support themselves and lead better lives.
Kawana told farmers listening that HH understood their needs and that they would not face the same problems they had previously encountered under the Patriotic Front.
“You have faced problems and you even named PF as Paya Farmer because the PF failed to manage agriculture but this won’t be the case, under UPND because President Hakainde knows the right time and quantity of seed packs needed to produce enough crop to feed your families and sale the rest,” he said.
The UPND team are currently touring Eastern Province, conducting face mask distribution exercises to help protect Zambians against Covid-19.
