We’ll Not Hesitate To Fire Incompetent Ministers – HH
During the induction ceremony for ministers and provincial ministers on Monday the 13th of September, President Hakainde Hichilema reminded his cabinet that 5 years is a short time in which to not only meet but exceed the expectations of the Zambian public. HH declared that he is not afraid to make changes to his cabinet if he feels that some minsters are not preforming to his standards.
Speaking during the ceremony HH reminded his minsters that they were not on holiday, adding that the confidence the public have in the new administration must be met with hard work, determination, and a commitment to serve. He re-emphasised to his minsters the economic promises they were voted into office on and urged them to stay focused, asking them to work as a collective to achieve the tasks they set out for themselves.
“We are bound by the policies, decisions and programmes that we shall make collectively. It is therefore expected of all of us, all of you ministers, provincial ministers to work in unison as a team towards the realisation of our developmental goals for the good of the people of our great country, Zambians.” Said HH.
The President also stated that the offices they occupied belonged to Zambians, reminding his ministers that they were here to serve the people, to create a better Zambia for all.
“It is imperative that as people charged with the responsibility for policy and strategic direction of the various sectors, you ensure that policies are consistent, are coherent with the overall government policy.” Said HH.
At the end of ceremony HH announced that these induction ceremonies would be held quarterly, as a time to ‘compare notes’ and help each minister through the challenges they might face.
After the induction ceremony, Home Affairs Minister Jack Mwiimbu thanked HH for his instruction and said the ministers would ensure that they uplift and improve the lives of Zambians.
