Ministry Of Education: Learning Is Key To Stop Early Marriages
Noriana Muneku, Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary, has stated that education is the greatest tool to stop early marriages, gender-based violence, and other forces that contribute to gender inequality.
She reiterated that the New Dawn government is committed to ending child marriage and ensuring that women have equal opportunities. She said that this is being shown through various government-backed programs and policies to promote education.
The announcement came while Ms Muneku was giving a speech at the 60th Anniversary of the Catholic-run Saint Monica’s Girls Secondary School in Chipata.
During the anniversary celebrations, Chipata Diocese Bishop George Lungu also commended the school for its promotion of tradition within education.
He also outlined the church's support, alongside the government, to ensure universal education.
