One Billion Kwacha Released In Latest CDF Disbursement

The government released another 1 billion Kwacha as part of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) yesterday.

 The funds have been allocated to all 156 Zambian constituencies to be used for community development projects.

Each constituency has been allocated more than 6.4 million Kwacha.

The Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Maambo Hamaundu, stated that following the last disbursement of over 19.8 million Kwacha distributed in 2022.

 He also outlined that a further 25.7 million Kwacha will be disbursed by the beginning of the next financial year.

 He said, “With this latest figure, it shows that the Ministry has disbursed significant amounts of resources to the local authorities to enable them to carry out a number of developmental activities as outlined in the CDF guideline.”

The New Dawn government also expressed their happiness that several development projects were already underway. This included bursary schemes and infrastructure projects.

Mr Hamaundu also outlined that the scheme now includes guidelines about which financial institutions can manage CDF loans.

He outlined, “The service agreement between the Ministry and the identified financial institutions is in place.”

For example, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development released 5.6 million Kwacha towards the building of the Lukanga Transit Bus Station in Kabwe.
