Government To Scale Up Rural Electrification
The government will prioritise expanding the rural electrification initiative in order to boost production and improve the quality of life in rural regions.
Minister of Energy Peter Kapala stated that the government intends to develop the Rural Electrification programme by expanding the grid network and deploying off-grid electrification alternatives such as small grids, solar household systems, and the supply of solar water pumping technology.
Mr. Kapala pointed out that the government is committed to providing dependable, cheap, and clean electricity through the Rural Electrification Programme and an ambitious renewable energy investment plan.
He said that the strategy will enhance Zambia's energy mix and reduce the country's vulnerability to climate change by capitalising on the dropping cost of technology to harness the country's huge energy resources, such as solar, wind, bioenergy, and geothermal energy.
Meanwhile, Malungo Chisangano, First Deputy Speaker of Zambia's National Assembly, indicated that the country must accept alternative energy sources in order to accelerate the execution of the rural electrification programme.
