Government Releases k805 Million CDF For The First Quarter

Government has released K805 million for Constituency Development Fund for first quarter for 2021.

Yesterday, Honourable Gary Nkombo, MP, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, announced that the Treasury released these funds from the Constituency Development Fund-CDF.

This amount, which is for the first quarter of this year, will be distributed across the country's 156 constituencies.

For the first quarter of this year, Mr Nkombo noted that the cash released will be used for different community initiatives, youth empowerment, and women empowerment.

Mr Nkombo stated that each Constituency will receive K5.1 million from the K805 million disbursed in the first quarter to help them execute various developmental initiatives.

Mr Nkombo also stated that the Ministry has released the remaining funds for the bursaries for secondary schools and skills training for the first quarter of this year, totaling K99, 268,342.47. With this, President Hakainde Hichilema has reaffirmed his willingness to improve the education sector in Zambia.

Mr Nkombo stated, "as a Ministry and owing to the doubts in the absorption capacity of Local Authorities and the identification of the beneficiaries, 50% was released in February this year, and today the remaining balance amounting to K99, 268,342.47 to cover the first quarter of this year of the secondary school and skills training bursaries has been released."

By releasing the whole amount of the secondary school and skills training bursaries, the Government has fully funded the education sector for the first quarter of this year.
