President Hichilema Celebrates International Women’s Day

Yesterday morning, President Hakainde Hichilema joined the rest of the world in honouring International Women's Day.

President Hichilema, accompanied by the First lady Muntinta Hichilema, met with various female entrepreneurs.

The theme for this year's International Women's Day is "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow."

The New Dawn government claims to be committed to gender equity and equality in all aspects of national development in order to accomplish economic, political, and social goals.

According to Kitwe District Commissioner Lawrence Mwanza, government has prioritised economic empowerment programmes, with over 25 female groups benefiting in Kitwe this year alone.

Additionally, Mr Mwanza noted during the festivities that the rollout of the free education policy in government schools had resulted in an increase in the number of females in school.

Hundreds of Kitwe women attended today's International Women's Day celebrations.

Subeta Mutelo, Deputy National Women's Chairperson of the United Party for National Development (UPND), asked women to help one another in advancing gender equality to guarantee women's social dignity.
