New Dawn Government Announces Launch of Public-Private Dialogue Forum
The government has announced the introduction of the Public-Private Dialogue Forum during a press conference held yesterday. The official launch of the Forum will take place tomorrow and will be held under the theme of “Fostering Private Sector Growth and Economic Development.”
During his speech yesterday, President Hichilema outlined that because the government sees the private sector as an engine for economic growth, it is crucial to support and encourage investments within the sector. To achieve this, the New Dawn government will launch the Public-Private Dialogue Forum tomorrow.
The goal of the forum is to strengthen the private sector within Zambia in order to accelerate economic development and facilitate collaboration among relevant stakeholders.
The forum also aims to help find and address potential sector-specific constraints in the market.
The acting Secretary to the Cabinet, Patrick Kangwa, explained that the government has recognised the potential of the private sector as an engine of economic growth and the best tool for the development of the country.
Further, he outlined that discussions during the Forum will increase the government’s awareness of market failures and provide policies to help address these.
Mr Kangwa also suggested that the event will bring together key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors and facilitate partnerships between the two. These partnerships will support sustainable growth within such sectors and therefore help deliver the New Dawn government’s manifesto promise of economic growth in Zambia.
