Zambian Police Reopen Investigations Into Gassing Cases

Inspector-General of Police, Lemmy Kajoba, has announced that the police have reopened unsolved cases of gassing in Zambia.

The news came during a speech by Mr Kajoba at the official opening of the Criminal Investigators workshop held at Zambia Police Training College in Lusaka.

The cases involve past incidents of gassing that were left unsolved.

Mr Kajoba stated that anyone involved in the incidents should be aware that the cases are actively being investigated by the police and that they will be brought to justice.

He explained, “As you may be aware, we have re-opened investigations into the gassing cases that characterised our country sometime in the past and were not logically concluded.”

He further remarked that his Command were quickly building capacity for the Criminal Investigations to take place and to resolve such unconcluded cases as well as new emerging ones.

The Inspector General also explained that several cases were under investigation such as the alleged abduction of Pamela Chisupa and other inquiries including the abuse of social media.
