Lusambo Arrested Outside Magistrates Court
The Patriotic Front Member of Parliament for Kabushi, Bowman Lusambo, has been arrested outside of Lusaka Magistrates’ court, where he was appearing on corruption charges.
Video footage shared by Mwebantu on social media, shows the former Lusaka Province Minister being ushered into the back of a truck by armed police officers outside of the courthouse.
Mr Lusambo had been appearing before the court this morning alongside his wife Nancy for ten counts of possession of properties suspected to be the proceeds of crime.
The Anti-Corruption Comission (ACC) had previously indicated that Mr Lusambo was ignoring summons to appear for further questioning in relation to a number of additional allegations. This may have precipitated his arrest this morning.
Last month, the ACC seized properties belonging to Lusambo worth over K22 million. The commission said that the properties had been acquired and constructed using the suspected proceeds of a crime and said it believed the properties were registered under another person’s name.
This followed Lusambo’s initial arrest by the ACC for illegally possessing properties worth $378,000. Since then, the charges have continued to rack up against him.
