President Hichilema To Take State Visit To Kenya

Today President Hakainde Hichilema will take a scheduled trip to Kenya. During the two-day trip, the president will hold talks with the Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The visit was announced by Stanley Kakubo, a minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. He outlined that following an invitation by President Kenyatta the Zambian President would go to Kenya.

The itinerary for the visit includes bilateral talks, which will discuss areas of mutual interest between the two countries. During the talks, President Kenyatta and Hichilema are set to discuss regional, continental and international issues and solutions.

The highlight of the trip is set to be the signing of various Memorandums of Understandings between the two countries in various sectors embedded in social-economic cooperation.

Minister Kakubo also explained that the visit is an opportunity for the New Dawn government to unlock economic opportunities through enhanced bilateral cooperation. Additionally, he stated that such high-level engagements will aid the government in exploring innovative ways to enhance cooperation between Kenya and Zambia.

He said, “President Hichilema has continued to underscore the importance of close cooperation among African nations to increase trade and investment and ensure greater integration.”

In preparation for the visit, there has been a review of the Zambia-Kenya Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation in Nairobi.

Following his visit to Kenya, President Hichilema is set to return to Zambia and continue with his engagements.
