Traditional Chief praises Government partnership in drive to spread Polio immunity
Chief Nkana of the Lamba people in Lufwanyama has praised the Hichilema administration for its consideration of traditional leaders as partners when fighting disease and other local problems.
The leader emphasised the role traditional authorities play in communities and the increased efficacy with which important messages designed to halt the spread of disease can be disseminated.
Chief Nkana emphasised his palace was always open to working with the government going forwards in order to best deliver its programs aimed at safeguarding local communities.
Government officials, including the Lufywanyama district commissioner Justine Mwalikwa, recently visited the ruler in order to discuss spreading the Polio vaccine to the population.
The officials expressed their pleasure at Chief Nkana’s willingness to cooperate with the government. Mr Mwailika expressed his belief that chiefs are a special ally in the promotion of good governance.
There is particular urgency to the recent vaccine drive as there was a recent outbreak in neighbouring Malawi.
