Davos 2023: Zambian Government Meet With High-Level Officials To Discuss Development Agenda

Yesterday Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane, Minister of Finance and National Planning, announced that the New Dawn government will continue to prioritise economic growth through local and foreign direct investment.

The announcement came during a ministerial panel at this year’s World Economic Forum Annual Meeting.

The panel included former politicians and experts such as Germany's Federal Minister of Health Professor Karl Wilhelm Lauterbach, Zimbabwe’s Finance Minister Prof. Mthuli Ncube, World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and former Prime Minister of Britain, Tony Blair.

The Minister outlined that the government is committed to the provision of high-quality social services.

This includes the recruitment of health workers, increasing the funding made available to healthcare facilities and ensuring a stable supply of drugs.

Further, he explained the success of the grassroots funding system, the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

He said that through CDF the government is working towards easing pressures on social services and improving service delivery whilst focusing on quality, accessibility and affordability.

Dr Musokotwane also discussed the New Dawn government’s growth strategy.

He said that the government is prioritising investments that offer decent working opportunities for Zambians.

Calling on more businesses to work with Zambia he said that the country provides the perfect combination of business-friendly policies and networking opportunities.
