Zambia On Track to Implement Majority of MOUs Signed with Ghana
Zambia has successfully implemented most of the 10 Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) signed with Ghana during President Hakainde Hichilema’s state visit in July 2023.
Zambia’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Daniel Mahongo, says one of the MOUs facilitated a visit by 50 Ghanaian businesswomen to Zambia this year. He explained that the businesswomen have since established trade partnerships with Zambians, leading to the export of goods between the two countries.
“Most of these memorandums are almost actualised; these MOUs have taken us to another level, and we are now seeing the results.” added the High Commissioner at a courtesy call by Information and Media Minister Cornelius Mweetwa at the Zambian Mission in Accra, Ghana.
The Information and Media Minister also updated the Mission on some of the developments in Zambia.
Mr Mweetwa said, “Some of the Greenfield mines earmarked to begin production in 2027, such as Mingomba, set Zambia on the right path towards the President’s target of 3 million tonnes of copper. We are well set there in terms of the Copperbelt economy.”
