HH vows to crack down on illegal land acquisitions
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has warned that people carrying out illegal activities on the water recharge areas will be arrested.
President HICHILEMA also says those who want to promote lawlessness, by grabbing land and settling in water recharge areas will be dealt with.
He says this is why he moved Ms. SYLVIA MASEBO from the Ministry of Health to the Ministry of Lands so that she can address the illegal allocation of land in water recharge areas following the impact caused on the Chongwe River.
And President HICHILEMA has warned that his administration will not shield anyone that is involved in corrupt activities.
President HICHILEMA, who officiated at the 2024 Chakwela Makumbi Traditional ceremony in Chongwe also stressed that he will not condone any form of violence in the country.
And Senior Chieftainess NKOMESHYA MUKAMAMBO the second, thanked President HICHILEMA and Government, for the support that has been rendered to her during her illness.
Chieftainess NKOMESHYA, through her representative ATHET PONGOLANI also noted the various programmes such as CDF, Cash for Work among others saying they have improved and transformed the lives of the community.
She also called on Government to address the water shortage that the community continues to face.
The traditional leader also called on Government to address the land disputes that the district is facing and the construction of the road adding that in its current form, it poses a threat to the road users.
And Organising Committee Publicity and Information Committee Member GREENWELL LYEMBA said the ceremony is not just a celebration but important to preserve the country’s cultural heritage while embracing development.
Mr. LYEMBA said senior Chieftainess NKOMESHYA MUKAMAAMBO the Second has been on the throne for over 53 years, uniting and leading the people in unity and tranquility.
And House of Chiefs Chairperson, Chief NKAMBO praised President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA, for promoting culture as can be seen through his attendance to various traditional ceremonies.
