Govt Prepares to Recruit 4,200 Extra Teachers
Since the introduction of free education under the New Dawn administration in January 2022 there has been increased pressure on class sizes. To date an additional 34,500 teachers have been recruited to try and relieve this pressure and now applications are to open for an additional 4,200 positions in the next two weeks.
Recruitment for the positions will be undertaken by the Teaching Service Commission (TSC). Speaking to ZNBC on the subject SESTUZ General Secretary Anthony Mukanda stated, “The recruitment of teachers that they have done ever since they have come into power is quite unprecedented, so we continue commending them and just express our excitement about that news.”
“This new recruitment of teachers bridges the teacher to pupil ratio so that one teacher is able to attend to an acceptable number of pupils in order to guarantee specialised and individual attention to the learners so. It goes a long way to guaranteeing quality education,” he continued.
The initiative follows the commencement of the recruitment of an additional 4,000 health workers last month.
