Government approves 2,362 further CDF projects
Under the Constituency Development Fund 2024, the government has approved 2,362 projects worth more than K2 billion for support.
The Ministry for Local Government and Rural Development permanent secretary, Nicholas Phiri has noted that the projects are focused on education, health, water, sanitation and roads, among other things.
Mr Phiri said that the CDF plays a pivotal role in propping up community infrastructure. With this in mind, he firmly warned officers holding onto any payments which should be going to contractors. He said, “You sit on an IPC for two months…for a person that has done their work. We are coming for you.”
To aid the operational service of the CDF, the Local Government Service Commission Chairperson, Ackson Sejani revealed that an appraisal system had been developed for local authorities workers. 35,000 public servants have been deployed to work with the fund.
