UPND Mobilise Women with Nyamula Namayo Initiative
As part of celebrations to mark three years in office Vice President Mutale Nalumango has addressed the recently launched UPND Nyamula Namayo initiative focused on lifting up and empowering women.
The female-led initiative aims to raise women up to the highest levels of politics and society, encouraging and supporting them to take on leadership roles.
Speaking to those gather the Vice President stated, “It is a great privilege and honour to be accorded this opportunity to come and interact with women with a vision to uphold integrity in politics and raise the welfare of women in our great nation, Zambia.”
“The peace and conducive environment we are experiencing in Zambia under the leadership of our republican president Mr Hakainde Hichilema has enabled and encouraged many women to come on board to participate in politics,” she continued.
Mrs Nalumango called on women to leverage and pool resources in order to bring more women to the decision-making table. She pledged her continued support to the initiative as it works to uplift, support and empower women across the country.
“Where women with the hearts of mothers unite, the world changes, it becomes a better place,” she told those gathered.
Mrs Nalumango explained the strong importance that the UPND placed on women and their empowerment.
“As a party through initiatives such as this one, we are all changing the narrative that women have a tendency to not stand up and support one another. On the contrary, we are now seeing more women coming together to work together,” she stated.
