HH in Japan: Kyoto Governor Praises President Hichilema's Democratic Efforts

Kyoto Prefecture Governor Nashiwaki Takatoshi hosted a dinner at the State Guest House in Kyoto to welcome President Hichilema, where he commended the President for his unwavering commitment to peace, democracy, and regional cooperation. Governor Takatoshi specifically applauded Zambia's successful and peaceful transition of power, as well as the country's dedication to holding free and fair democratic elections. He emphasized that these values are essential for regional stability and prosperity. President Hichilema's visit to Japan is seen as a crucial step in strengthening the relationship between the two countries, aiming to foster collaboration in various sectors.


During his visit to Kyoto, President Hichilema visited Horiba Technologies Group, a globally recognized company specializing in analytical and measurement instruments. The President acknowledged the critical role that high-quality healthcare plays in national development and expressed keen interest in exploring potential partnerships with Horiba to enhance the diagnostic equipment available in Zambian health facilities. Such a collaboration could significantly improve healthcare outcomes in Zambia by enabling faster and more accurate diagnoses.


The President also had the opportunity to visit Sustaina Kyoto South Clean Centre, a leading waste management company that has pioneered innovative technologies to generate energy from waste. Impressed by their sustainable and efficient model, President Hichilema directed the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to investigate the feasibility of implementing similar waste-to-energy solutions in Zambia. This forward-thinking approach could address Zambia's waste management challenges while simultaneously contributing to the country's energy needs.


Additionally, President Hichilema visited the Kinkakuji Temple, a renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple's rich history and cultural significance deeply inspired the President, who emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting cultural heritage sites in Zambia. He believes that by investing in cultural tourism, Zambia can attract more visitors and boost its economy.
