Justin Shonga leaves Ismaily
Egyptian Premier League side Ismaily SC have announced the termination of Chipolopolo striker Justin Shonga’s contract by mutual consent.
“Ismaily disproves his contract with Zambian Shonga by compromise,” the club posted on their official Facebook page on Thursday.
Shonga, who has been capped 33 times by Zambia and scored 16 goals, last featured for Ismaily on Tuesday in their 2-1 away loss to Samouha.
“Zambian striker Justin Shonga has terminated his contract with Egyptian Premier League side Ismaily SC due to unpaid salaries. A settlement has now been concluded between the two parties and in the event of default FIFA DRC will be the next recourse of action,” Shonga’s agent Karabo Mathang revealed on Thursday.
Shonga, 25, only joined Ismaily last October as a free agent, following a stint in South Africa in which he played for Cape Town City, Tshakhuma and Orlando Pirates.
The Zambian ace made only four appearances for Ismaily SC, bagging his solitary goal in a pre-season friendly win against Al Ostool in October.
