Nkana’s 64-Match Unbeaten Streak Ended By Raja Casablanca
A 2-0 loss against the Moroccan side is a hard blow to Nkana as they played outside of their home stadium.
The floodlit conditions and unusual timing of the match, different to their usual 15:00 start time, were also concerns of the coach prior to the match starting.
The Zambian side held an impressive 64-match unbeaten record at home, with the match on Wednesday bringing this record to an abrupt halt.
Soufiane Rahimi of Raja Casablanca converted a penalty in the 47th minute of the game, with a second goal being added by substitute Noah Sadaoui with only three minutes of regular time remaining.
Prior to the Group D match, Nkana had won 45 home matches and drawn 19 in the Champions League, African Cup Winners Cup, CAF and Confederation Cup, scoring 137 goals and conceding 38.
The win for the Moroccans comes following poor continental form, enabling them to now share first place within Group D of the Cup, shared with Egypt’s Pyramids. This leaves the Tanzanian and Zambian sides within the group pointless.
