Ngonga Goal Ensures Win Against Ex-Team

Striker Alex Ngonga scored the final goal during Sunday’s Kitwe derby against his previous team, the Power Dynamos.

Only joining Nkana last month, following a long-term deal with the Power Dynamos, the goal scored in Sunday’s match is his second in only two games, having previously scored against Nkwazi last Wednesday.

The game against the Power Dynamos saw Ngonga score Nkana’s second goal in the 90th minute, adding on to Diamond Chikwekwe’s 30th minute goal.

Beston Chambeshi, Nkana’s current head coach, showered Ngonga in praise following his recent performance.

“You know, Alex is a fighter, he is a chap who can win a game alone, but one good thing is he is now in good hands,” Chambeshi said.

“I am with him at Nkana and we will work together and see how he can develop and does what he does best.”

Ngonga’s time at Power Dynamos saw him as a peripheral figure within the team, with his recent performance demonstrating the value he could have added if he was included in Perry Mutapa’s plans.

The win also enabled Nkana to end their winless drought, having last won a game three months ago.
