Zambia Midfielder Enock Mwepu Released from Hospital
Ex-Brighton midfielder Enock Mwepu has been discharged from the specialist National Heart Hospital in Lusaka after a four-day admission.
The 25-year-old was taken ill while in his native country on Sunday and was admitted to the hospital in Zambia’s hospital for precautionary checks.
Doctors at the hospital have confirmed that he is expected to return for a review next Wednesday to be advised on his next steps.
Mwepu was diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition in October while on a flight to play Mali with the Zambian national team and was forced to retire early.
Mwepu made 23 appearances for the Zambian national team, scoring six times and earning the moniker “The Computer” for his ability to read the game.
Last month, Mwepu took on a role as coach of the Under-9s at Brighton’s development academy.
