Chipolopolo Face Cote d’Ivoire in AFCON Qualifier
Chipolopolo will this evening face Cote d’Ivoire in their latest qualifier for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Kick-off is expected at 1800hr at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Zambia and Cote d’Ivoire are part of Group G, along with Sierra Leone and Chad. Ahead of tonight’s match Cote d’Ivoire leads the group on nine points and already have enough points to qualify for the tournament. Meanwhile, Zambia is in second place on seven points, Sierra Leone have four points and Chad is on last place with two.
Lameck Banda and Joshua Mutale have both been ruled out of the fixture as a result of injuries. However, Czech Republic based Benson Sakala joined the team earlier this week in Ndola.
AFCON 2025 is expected to take place in Morocco between 21 December 2025 and 18 January 2026. It will be the second time Morocco is hosting, having previously hosted the tournament back in 1988. A total of 24 teams are expected to compete.
