Chipolopolo Depart for Lilongwe
Chipolopolo have departed for Lilongwe, Malawi, to participate in the Four Nations tournament.
According to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) the contingent includes 15 players and officials, who have travelled via Malawi Airlines.
The national team will take on the Warriors of Zimbabwe on Saturday in their opening match of the tournament at 14:00 hours at Bingu National Stadium.
Host nation Malawi and Kenya will also be participating in the tournament, with their first fixture schedule for 17:00 hours at the same venue.
The winners of both matches will face off on Tuesday at 17:00 hours, with the two losers playing each other at 14:00 hours.
Speaking earlier this week on the tournament FAZ President Andrew Kamanga stated, “We were more than happy to accept this invitation alongside Zimbabwe and Kenya as we share not just a football bond but a longstanding historical chord. All the teams participating have duly signed up to bring their A-sides as this is a perfect opportunity to prepare for the June FIFA window games.”
“We will not have another window before the competitive one in June to prepare for our back-to-back matches against Morocco and Tanzania. There could have been no better opportunity than to play two highly competitive games,” he continued.
The Four Nations tournament is part of Chipolopolo’s preparations for the June FIFA window matches.
