Former Chipolopolo Star Justin Shonga To Be Buried Today
Former Chipolopolo Star Justin Shonga died on June 30 2024 at Sikanze Hospital after a short illness aged just 27.
The service will take place at 13.00hrs at Arakan Chapel (Arakan Bararcks), following which the body will be transferred to his final resting place in Chipata.
Commenting on the death of the former Zambia national team midfielder FAZ President Andrew Kamanga stated, “Everyone in Zambian football knows what Shonga did for the game and we will celebrate his contribution as we mourn him.”
“He was such an important member of the Chipolopolo from 2018-2021 where he scored many important goals several times. He was a great ambassador of our game for the many clubs he played for outside the country,” he continued.
“The life of Shonga is a true testimony that it does not matter how long or short you live to leave an impression in life. Go well Justin and we will always celebrate and remember you.”
Yesterday the national team observed a solemn remembrance of the all-time COSAFA Cup leading goal scorer ahead of their match against Comoros, which they lost 1-0 seeing them exit the tournament.
