Government partners with World Bank to build secondary school in Rufunsa

Eight million Kwacha has been designated for the construction of a modern secondary school in Rufunsa.

The Enhanced Zambia Education Project has established 120 similar institutions.

For many years, children and young people have needed to cross from Rufunsa to Chisamba to access secondary education.

At the opening ceremony, the Lusaka Province Minister Sheal Mulyata said, “The project focuses on the quality of teaching in language conditions in language, arts, and mathematics in targeted primary and junior secondary schools.”

She pointed to a fundamental expectation that “no child going to school should have to cover long distances for them to acquire knowledge.”

The traditional leader warned against vandalism of the school, saying “This school will outlive all of us.”

The school will be equipped with an assembly hall and a sick bay, making health services for the community far more accessible.
