K37 Million Owed In Legal Fees By PF

The Patriotic Front owe K37 million in legal fees for parliamentary and local government petitions.

It has been alleged that PF member Brian Mundubile, who is the chairperson of the legal affairs committee, has been given the money to pay off the arrears, however is yet to transfer it over to approximately 20 law firms.

Some of the law firms who are owed this money have said that they have been requesting it for over a month without any luck.

“When we had a meeting on Tuesday [with Brian Mundubile], we were told that the money would be paid this week but whenever we ask or follow up on the matter the people from the secretariat are not being forthcoming as to when they money will be paid,” one lawyer said.

Questions have arisen as to why there has been a lack of transparency with the true status of the payment. The PF have also been described by the lawyers as “arrogant” with the way in which they have gone about the issue.
