HH Reassures Germans That Corruption Will Not Be Tolerated

President Hichilema has reiterated that his government will hold no prisoners in the fight against corruption as his Administration is determined to eradicate the vice.

During a meeting at the state house in Lusaka on Monday, President Hakainde Hichilema reassured the German Chancellor’s Personal Representative for Africa, Gunter Nooke, that his administration will guarantee democratic space to all political players and work hard to exterminate corruption.

President Hichilema said expressed his appreciation for the bilateral relations Zambia has enjoyed with Germany in recent years. HH stated that he looks forward working with the German Government to help Zambia elevate its heavy debt burden.

President Hichilema said his administration hoping to decentralise its economy by taking national resources that were controlled by a small number of people in Lusaka to other areas where they might help to stimulate growth.

The President further said that Zambia needs the support of Germany in tackling climate change issues, poverty reduction and providing alternative sources of income.

Mr. Nooke expressed appreciation for the Government’s ambitious social and economic reform agenda, its zero-tolerance stance on corruption and commitment to good governance.

The German Chancellor’s Personal Representative for Africa assured President Hichilema that Germany stands ready to build a partnership for reforms with the new administration.
