Nevers Mumba Hails Peaceful Atmosphere On UPND Campaign Trail In Kabwata

Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) leader Nevers Mumba has praised the peaceful atmosphere he experienced while campaigning with the United Party for National Development (UPND) in Kabwata yesterday, ahead of the constituency’s upcoming byelection.

Dr Mumba spent the afternoon supporting the UPND’s parliamentary candidate Andrew Tayengwa as he canvassed votes for next Thursday’s election. Speaking to the media at Chilenje Community Hall, Dr Mumba described Tayengwa as a ‘son’ who grew up in his Christian ministry ‘Zambia Shall Be Saved’.

The MMD leader clarified that his party fully supported the UPND’s campaign for the Kabwata parliamentary seat.

“My presence here is a clear indication that the MMD stands in support with the UPND. We are here to push for the aspirations that the people of Zambia carry in their hearts-of integrity, peace, love and unity. For the first time now, we have new politics of love and unity that have been brought by President Hichilema,”he said.

In addition he praised the peaceful atmosphere that had been brought to Zambian politics by President Hichilema, allowing opposition and ruling parties to campaign side by side without violent clashes.

“Even when the PF were in the area where we were campaigning, no single stone was thrown and no panga was used. No insult was used and blood was spilled. Therefore, I decided that it would be selfish for Nevers Mumba not to join UPND campaigns in Kabwata,” he said.
