Visiting Lusaka’s Residents, President Hichilema Pledges his Commitment to Economic Prosperity
President Hakainde Hichilema’s schedule is nothing short of busy. Recently, however, he took time out of presidential engagements to meet face-to-face with members of the public.
This weekend, the President strolled through Lusaka’s business district along the bustling Cairo road, stopping at Shoprite stores. There he had the opportunity to connect with citizens and understand their concerns and expectations.
The people were pleased by President Hichilema’s proactive and public presence.
Many in particular emphasised their appreciation for the government’s intervention in working to reduce the price of the essential product mealie meal, through the initiative of the Zambia National Service (ZNS). The lowered price of mealie meal in Shoprite stores came as a huge relief to Lusaka’s residents on 16 October. Since the success in Lusaka, the government has taken further initiatives to enhance wider accessibility of this affordable mealie meal, responding efficiently to further requests.
He also stressed his commitment to improving the country’s economic conditions, which resonated powerfully with those he spoke with during the visit
President Hichilema highlighted his government’s determination to drive Zambia’s economic trajectory upwards, reassuring citizens that he would work for all Zambians. The President further clarified that he along with his government intend to spare no effort to achieve their economic objectives within the means available.
At the same time, the President also reminded citizens that this task would require the unity and collaboration of all the Zambian people, reinforcing a principle culture of hard work that is rooted in the Bible’s teachings.
