President Hichilema reaffirms government’s support to the church

In a speech delivered at the Charis Support Network Yoke Breakers Conference for Pastors in Lusaka today, President Hakainde Hichilema reaffirmed the Zambian government's commitment to supporting the church.

The address, read by Lusaka Province Minister Sheal Mulyata on behalf of the President, emphasised the importance of unity between the government and religious institutions for the nation's benefit.

President Hichilema encouraged church leaders to take advantage of government initiatives such as the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and the Citizens Economic Empowerment Fund (CEEC), stressing that these resources are available to all Zambians.

The President commended the Charis Support Network and its partners for their efforts in empowering church leaders through programmes that promote pastors' well-being. He highlighted the often-overlooked need for support among religious leaders who dedicate themselves to serving their communities.

Reverend Dr William Njombo, Chairperson of the Charis Support Network, reassured pastors of their significance in society. The conference also welcomed Bishop Anuel Onabanjo from the United States as a guest speaker, who expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the Zambian government.

This event underscores the government's recognition of the church's role in national development and its commitment to fostering a collaborative relationship with religious institutions.
