Chilufya Names Final U-17 Squad

ZAMBIA men’s Under-17 national football team coach George Chilufya has named a 22-man squad for the 2021 Total Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Morocco next month.

Prior to the final selection, the Chilufya-led technical bench had summoned a provisional squad of 41 players who were a mix of the 2020 COSAFA Under-17 squad and new call-ups.

Skipper Miguel Chaiwa will lead the pack that includes 2020 COSAFA men’s Under-17 goalkeeper of the tournament Eric Musonda Makungu, and midfielders Joseph Sabobo Banda and Julius Kumwenda.

The Young Chipolopolo are in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Uganda and Ivory Coast.

Meanwhile, Zambia will be involved in three friendly matches prior to the tournament which will run from March 13-31.

They will play Nigeria on March 3 before playing FUS Rabat U-17 on March 6.

They will wrap up matters against Under-17 defending champions Cameroon three days later in readiness for their tournament opener against Ivory Coast on March 14.
