Zambian Swimmers Aim for Olympic Glory in Paris
Zambian swimmers are gearing up for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games with high hopes, as Head Coach Ian Stephenson expresses confidence in their medal potential. Under his guidance, swimmers Mia Phiri and Damien Shamambo have been training intensely and have successfully acclimatised to the conditions in Paris.
Stephenson shared his optimism, stating, “The athletes are in great shape and have shown tremendous improvement. We’re confident they can reach the medal brackets once the competition starts.”
Damien Shamambo will be the first to compete, hitting the pool on July 31st. Mia Phiri will follow closely, with her event scheduled for August 1st. Both athletes have been displaying commendable enthusiasm and dedication in their preparations.
Chansa Kunda of ZNBC, reporting from Paris, highlighted the athletes' readiness and determination. "Shamambo and Phiri have acclimatised well and are eager to showcase their skills on this prestigious stage," Kunda noted.
